PUSH

Last night, after an amazing service of worship, revelation, and intercessory prayer, I finally made my way out of church--around midnight! Needless to say, I was exhausted and determined to speedily, but safely return my dear friend to her home and make my way back to the cozy, warm bed that was calling my name! Long story short, I reach my friend's destination, inching up the driveway towards her parking gate, but to my dismay, we weren't permitted to enter. You see, her remote control had failed us! After numerous attempts at pushing on the button, the gate just wouldn't budge. During this time, we murmured prayers under our breath and finally the gate opened! At this point, it seemed almost miraculous!

I dropped her off and drove home. The moment I reached my driveway, I pulled out my remote control to open my parking lot gate. You probably can guess what happened next. It didn't work! I must have pushed the button about twenty times, sticking my arm out the car door window, thinking that might solve the case behind the mysterious failed remote control phenomenon. During this time, I started devising a plan, strategizing an alternative route by scanning the rows of parked cars alongside the curb to find an empty space. I finally prayed my final prayer and said, "Lord, I don't know how I'm going to get in, but I know You are going to make it happen." Just then, the gate started to slowly shift left, making way for my vehicle to enter into the "promised land"--my parking space! LOL

I know the example I gave is a commonplace occurrence. However, the Lord spoke something to me through this regarding the importance of committing to a lifestyle of prayer. There may be some deep-rooted entanglements in your life, or larger than life issues concerning your family, community, city, or country that has been a burden heavy laden on your heart. Sometimes we feel that those walls will never crumble or that mountain will never budge, however, it's in these times we must remember to whip out the strongest weapon the Lord has equipped us with (aside from His word), PRAYER. In Psalm 62, David opens up this chapter with the words, "Truly my soul silently waits for God; From Him comes my salvation. He is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved." It is important for us to remember that we are weak in the face of adversity without Christ. Therefore, it would be futile for us to take matters into our own hands or act in our own free will. It is in those moments of "silent" prayer and patiently waiting on the Lord, that we can hear His voice clearly and distinctly. Then we can act. As you read further in Psalm 62, verse 11 states, "God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God". Something happens in the spiritual realm when we fellowship with the Lord day in and day out, offering up our prayers and petitions, praises and supplications. His will as preordained in the spiritual realm will manifest in the earthly realm. His POWER will reign over your dilemma, your trials, and tribulations when you engage in a healthy lifestyle of prayer. "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests." (Ephesians 6:18)

If your circumstances don't appear to be changing according to the desire or promise God has placed on your heart, do not become discouraged, do not be moved! Instead keep pushing! Like the example I gave earlier, if I just gave up on my remote control as I waited before the gate and looked for a place to park elsewhere, I would have never entered into the parking space promised to me. In much the same way, if you quit prematurely, you may never walk into the plan, promise, and purpose God has for your life or the lives of your loved ones! God honors and revels in His child who endures the waiting period and is not afraid to PUSH (Pray Until Something Happens)!
